Meet Dr. Shields
Dr. Steven Shields is a board-certified ophthalmologist. Dr. Shields earned his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, then his doctor of medicine degree from Washington University School of Medicine. Prior to his residency, Dr. Shields held an internship at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Washington University School of Medicine. In addition to his work at West County Ophthalmology, Dr. Shields is the chief of ophthalmology at St. Luke's Hospital (Chesterfield, MO). He also teaches ophthalmic surgery at Washington University School of Medicine, where he is an assistant professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences. In 2016, he earned the Ben Goldfeller Volunteer Service Award from the American Board of Ophthalmology.
